Although my heart will always belong in the classroom, I am hoping to embark on new career challenges. I envision a future that involves providing educational justice for all students through many paths but especially through access to technology. I chose to pursue education because I have a natural ability to build relationships and to see the potential in others. Since I began, I have built a rewarding career in education that has allowed me to build a variety of skills that I know will be beneficial in other industries.
Here is a little snippet of my background: I have a master’s degree in education and a multiple subject teaching credential from the University of California, Riverside. For a year, I was a substitute and student teacher in Moreno Valley Unified School District. Later, I was hired as a teacher for San Bernardino City Unified School District. I have now taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades over 5 years with the district. I have dedicated myself to implementing technology in the classroom, so I received a promotion to a support role as a technology coach for my school site.
Before this, however, I received a bachelor’s degree in English, with a minor in Education, also from the University of California, Riverside. As a college student, I volunteered in local city schools to tutor students in reading. I was also the UCR secretary for the state student teachers’ union (SCTA). I knew I wanted to make an impact through education, and now I am seeking to broaden my reach further, with a company that has the same equitable and technology driven vision for education that I have.
